Bexar County Democratic Women

Minutes of January 5^th, 2009

1. Meeting called to order at 6:25PM by President, Ruth Stewart.

2. Program featured Dr. Steve Neiheisel, political science professor from St. Mary’s University.

3. Secretary’s minutes approved as written.

4. Treasurer’s report accepted as reported: PAC account balance - $1240.11. Club account balance $1163.42. Treasurer presented 2009 budget which was approved.

5. Barbara Moschner reported on Naturalization project and need for printing of brochures. Members approved going forward with order for printing.

6. Committee Reports:

a. Program: Susan Zinn to speak at 2/2 meeting. Members were to complete survey of program topics and prioritize top three.

b. Newsletter: Madeleine Dewar recommended emailing newsletters if possible.

7. Barbara reported Food Bank donations from the December meeting: 133 pounds and seven checks totaling $378 delivered to the Food Bank.

8. Ruth discussed deadline for Texas Democratic Women awards is 1/14. Award for Outstanding Newsletter – BCDW will be nominated by Linda Allen. The Dr. Mae Jackson Outstanding Women – TX Senator Leticia Van de Putte will be written up by Madeleine Dewar. The Oscar Mauzy Humanitarian Award – Susan Zinn will write up the nomination.

9. Members approved that the BCDW would accept donations for the Warrior & Family Support Center at the April meeting.

10. Members agreed to hold monthly meetings at the SAAPAC facility.

11. Ruth took nominations for chair of the Elections Committee. Madeleine Dewar was nominated and elected by acclimation.
