Minutes of March 2nd, 2009
1.
Meeting called to
order at 6:30PM by President, Ruth Stewart.
2.
Program featured Patti
Radle, former San Antonio city councilwoman. She spoke on promoting women’s appointments
to boards and committees.
3.
Ruth welcomed
guests and elected officials. Welcomed
guests from Guadalupe County who want to form a Democratic Women’s
organization.
4.
Secretary’s
minutes approved as written.
5.
Treasurer’s
report accepted: PAC balance is
$1,019.68 and Club account balance is $1,163.42.
6.
Discussed $5 dues increase for 2010. Formal motion and vote will occur at April
meeting.
7.
Committee
Reports:
a.
Program (Erma
Clack) reported on results of program survey:
eleven surveys completed with the following programs of greatest
interest – Patti Radle, Elena Guajardo, TX Sen.
Leticia Van de Putte/TX Rep.Ruth
Jones McClendon (legislative update in June), Eric Lane (separation of church
and state), Leslie Ramsey (state income tax), Raise Your Hand TX (education),
and Darby Riley (environment).
b.
Linda Allen: discussed newsletter to go out 3/6. Discussed BCDW now has Act/Blue for donating
online. Also BCDW newsletter won as best
newsletter at the recent TDW conference.
c.
Elections chair (Madeliene
Dewar) reported on the elections committee slate: Treasurer:Dick
Waits, !st VP: Lila Aguirre, Elections
Chair: Madeliene
Dewar. Voting will be at the April
meeting.
d.
Naturalization: Barbara Moschner
reported on the project: 14,833
brochures handed out from May 2007 through February 2009.
e.
Lila Aguirre
reported on the TDW Convention.
8.
New
Business: Ruth discussed bylaw changes:
Executive Committee recommended the “annual audit” occur only when Treasurer
position changes and/or as recommended by the EC. Small groups such as ours do not require an
annual audit. There will be minor
changes, e.g. “meet at least quarterly”.
All will be documented in the 3/6 newsletter with the slate of
candidates.
