Minutes

1. The September Meeting was called to order at 6PM by President, Frances Carnot.
2. The amended agenda was approved.
3. Secretary’s minutes were approved.
4. Treasurer, Dick Waits, reported the balance in the non-political account as $1,897.19 with no activity since June 4^th.  The balance in the PAC account is $1,872.11.   The finance report was accepted as reported.
5. Program Chair, Ruth Stewart, passed out list of programs for remainder of 2007:  October 1^st – Carlos Guerra,  November 5^th – Zada True-Courage and the critical role of the precinct chair and Bexar County Election Officials on the Volunteer Voter Registrar Process, and December 3^rd – potluck party at Frances Carnot’s house.
6. For the 2008 programs, it was decided to omit meetings in March and November prior to elections and, instead, have members volunteer in some political action. Ruth then presented a list of program options and several additional topics were added: Carelink, Navigating Health Care, Immigration detention, and Fair Housing.  Each member of the group listed topic preferences 1-8.  Ruth will tabulate and report results at the next meeting.
7. Unfinished Business was table until next month.
8. Linda Allen volunteered to publish a quarterly newsletter and will present a proposal at the EC meeting 9/22. 
9. Darlene Murnin recommended that we send minutes and other documents to the local Archives for Research on Women and Gender at the UTSA library.
10. Announcements followed.
11. Angie Garcia volunteered to bring snacks for the next meeting. 
12. Note: Recent Naturalization Ceremonies reports: 

·        August 30^th, Ruth Stewart attended.  There were 229 new citizens representing 47 countries.

·        September 27^th, Lily Dorsey, Hortencia Marrozos, Pat McGuire and Barbara Moschner attended.  There were 899 new citizens from 74 countries.

13. Next meeting is October 1^st at 6PM with Carlos Guerra.
