speaker,
Madeleine Dewar, gave us step-by-step ideas to achieve grassroots
activism.
3.
Secretary’s
minutes were approved.
4.
Barbara
Moschner
reported on the BCDW’s recent projects: 1) at the December Holiday
party, we
collected for the SA Food Bank 113 lbs. of canned goods and $310 in
donations.
2) Thanked volunteers who worked at the Naturalization Ceremonies and
reported
the four ceremonies in November and December.
5.
Treasurer’s
report was given and accepted. There is
a balance of $1818.32 in the non-political account and $885.40 in the
political
account.
6.
Linda
Allen
reviewed the plans for the 2008 newsletter mailings. Discussion
followed.
7.
The
TDW
convention is 2/29-3/1. Marty Whitehead
and Pat McGuire announced that they are donating $150 for Star Awards
for Linda
Allen, Ruth Stewart and Barbara Moschner. Angie Garcia nominated
Frances Carnot
for Star Award and volunteered to contribute $50. Margaret
Montemayor volunteered to write up
the nomination for Justice Alma Lopez.
Judge Carmen Kelsey will be nominated for the Oscar Mauzy Award
and Ruth
Stewart will write this nomination. The
plans were approved.
8.
Committee
Reports: Programs -- Feb. 4th meeting is the Candidate
Forum,
featuring Democratic candidates in contested races. Nominations: Darlene Murnin,
chair, will present a slate of officers for the next term at the April
meeting.
9.
No
meeting in March due to Primary Election March 4th.
10.
Location of the meetings at the Westfall
Branch library was approved for future meetings.
11.
