speaker,
Darlene Murnin spoke about the challenges
still
facing women. She also stated that
today’s young women do not know or appreciate what yesterday’s women
activists
have achieved. She stated that the goal
of BCDW is elect and appoint women to office.
4.
Secretary’s
minutes were approved.
5.
Barbara
Moschner reported on the cumulative total
of citizens
naturalized since BCDW resumed this project at 6,817.
6.
Treasurer’s
report was given and accepted. There is
a balance of $1644.32 in the non-political account and $2529.27 in the
political account.
7.
Linda
Allen and
Ruth Stewart reported on the recent TDW Convention. BCDW members who
received
Star Awards (nominated by our members) were:
Madeleine Dewar, Frances Carnot,
Linda Allen,
Ruth Stewart, and Barbara Moschner. They mentioned the other awards.
8.
Judge
Stone,
chair of the Bylaws Committee, discussed bylaw changes and
answered
questions. Additional changes were
recommended from the floor and it was determined that these should be
brought
to the May meeting when the proposed changes are to be voted on.
9.
Darlene
Murnin, chair of the
Nominations Committee, explained the nominating process.
