Treasurer Barbara Cline gave the Treasurer’s report.

Gloria Caceres presented the program on the end of the legislative session and the various bills carried by Nueces County State Reps which passed in the session.  She explained the situation with the RTA health insurance bill, and said it would be vetoed.  She also said HB 4107 establishing a criminal magistrate court in Nueces County had passed.  There were also several resolutions passed honoring various Nueces County residents and organizations.  Susan Reeves then reported on the failures of HB 218 (Voter ID) and HB 2017 (moving the primary to February.)  She also reported on the Senate floor fight over HB 218 and the House floor fight, parliamentarians resignations, and breaking of quorum over the issue of Craddick remaining as Speaker.

Staples, near Morgan, with its grand opening tentatively scheduled for July 1.  However, the building will be available for the June CBTDW meeting.  He also announced that the Party was restarting its sustaining members program and encouraged everyone to participate.  He said there would be a fundraiser for Mikal Watts at Mauricio Celis’ office on June 1 from 4-6 pm.

Gloria announced that the next meeting would be at the new headquarters on Tues., June 26, at 6 pm.  A motion then passed to adjourn the meeting.
