Proposed Amendments to the TDW By-Laws

These are the amendments to the TDW bylaws that the committee is recommending to the membership at the Convention.

Article VIII Officers
Remove the vice-president as an officer, but retain the board position------The vice-pres. used to be the SDEC rep. but has been replaced by the president-elect. Retaining the board position maintains the odd number for the board.
Article X : section 3 –remove duties of the vice-president
Article IX Nominations and elections
Section 8 : To read 50+1 and replace 51%---committee believes this was a typo and will put TDW more in line with Democratic party elections
Article VI:section 2—dues paid after October1 are considered paid for the following year
Article VII: sect. 3—change September to January
Article X: sect.5f—file pertinent forms for the Texas Ethics Commission
ArticleXIII: sect.2e –submit a budget for the subsequent fiscal year in June for approval in November
ArticleXIII: sect.2a1—Audit committee to be appointed at the first quarterly board meeting
sect.2a2---The audit comm. shall conduct audits once a year at the second board meeting or when the books are turned over to a new treasurer.
sect.2a3—the audit should be 30 days after the convention or when the books are turned over to the new treasurer.
Article XIII: sect. 3- The audit committee shall be appointed at the first board meeting—to be in place for the audit the the time the new treasurer takes over the books.

2012-2013 TDW Candidates

The Elections Committee has completed the list of Candidates for the 2012-2013 TDW elections in February at the State Convention. While the filing deadline has passed, new candidates may still be nominated from the floor at the convention in accordance with the TDW Bylaws. More information on how to run for the TDW Board, including rules on how to nominate an individual from the floor, can be found here. Don't forget there is still time to sign up to attend the convention! You can sign up by clicking here and completing the registration form and payment steps.
