[NOTE: If you get a message while in Internet Explorer that says "The address is not valid", you are running in Compatibility View. In IE8 click on Page in the toolbar in the upper right, then click on Compatibility View Settings. Remove tdw.org from the list of website running in Compatibility View.]
I recently installed a popular (and free) content management system called Joomla (www.joomla.org). It produces a professional looking web page and the content can be updated by anybody with very basic computer skills. If you can use Microsoft Word or have ever commented on a blog, you can update a Joomla web page. For more information about Joomla, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joomla or find "Joomla for Dummies" at your local bookstore.
The change was made because of the difficulty in finding volunteers with specific website update skills, primarily HTML and FTP. With Joomla, the technical requirements are very low and we are looking for volunteers to publish and manage articles and to update our Google calendar. If you can commit to one or two hours a week and would like to volunteer, please contact me. I will be at the 2010 Summer Retreat and can demonstrate how easy it is to make web page updates to anybody interested.
