RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, For nearly a quarter-century, Texas Democratic Women has encouraged participation in civic life; and
WHEREAS, Affiliated with the National Federation of Democratic Women, Texas Democratic Women was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Austin; it promotes increased political engagement by women and emphasizes the local, grassroots aspects of politics; and
WHEREAS, The organization serves as a communication network for existing Democratic women’s organizations, and it unites Texasn from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, ethnicity, occupation, geographical location, and interests; supplementing its statewide training conferences and workshops, local chapters offer a range of valuable programming, including informational talks by guest speakers and discussions of local, state, and national issues; and...

WHEREAS, Providing opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and contribute to the public discourse, Texas Democratic Women fosters political activism and volunteerism, and its members are working to make a positive and lasting difference across the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend Texas Democratic Women for 24 years of service and extend to its officers and members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
