Following the nominations process, all persons that are to be placed on the ballot will be given three (3) minutes to address the members attending the Annual Meeting. A time keeper will be present, so please be mindful of the time limit. No surrogate speaker will be allowed.

You are encouraged to campaign for your votes. Fairness in mind, the campaign kickoff time will be 3:30 PM, Friday February 24, 2012. Members, who will be candidate, please be courteous and considerate of this request. Buttons, stickers and whatever campaign materials you would like to bring are encouraged.

Following the board candidate speeches, a short break will be taken. This will give ample time for ballot printing. A new approach will be taken this next year (2012) on voting procedures. You will be issued a voting card at the TDW annual convention registration, which makes you a qualified member for voting. The only requirement to be a qualified member is that your TDW state dues are current. If you are unsure about your voting status, PLEASE take care of this important matter at the registration table. At the time of voting, you will show your voting card to receive a ballot. An up-to-date list will be at the ballot table and as you receive your ballot, your name will be checked off. This will help us keep accurate records of registered delegates and qualified voters. The ballots of the 2012 convention will have two signature lines, one for your printed name and one for your signature. TDW abides by the Texas State Democratic Party rules; we do not have secret ballots.

Article IX, section 6 of the TDW by-laws states: There shall be no proxy voting.

A copy of this letter will be mailed to all TDW club Presidents. A paragraph of encouragement will be added to spread the information to chapter members. A short reminder will be in the next newsletter.

A fresh new year can be exciting. The Democratic Party has a lot of hard work ahead to ensure victories. TDW is all about involving women in the political process. We need to start focusing on our tasks ahead and join hands in unison for political victories!

On behalf of the Elections Committee, we look forward to our 2012 TDW Annual Convention.

Marcia Mainord

Election Committee Chair
